Studio 54 was a hugely popular and world renowned discotheque from 1977 until 1981 when it was sold by founders Steve Rubell and Ian Schrager. It was called the most famous nightclub of all time. In the late 70s Studio 54 was arguably the most well known nightclub in the world. The club played a major formative role in the growth of disco music and nightclub culture in general. In 1977 Steve and Yan transformed Studio 54 into a spectacular night club, with a great suport of a wonderful team: Ron Doud as interior designer, Scott Branley as architect, Renny Reynolds as florist, and Brian Thomson,Tony Award, Paul Marantz as enviromental, theatrical and architectural lighting, so Studio 54 took the nightclub scene by storm and was an instant succes.
Studio 54 was a melting pot where people of different ages,professions and lifestyle came toghether under one roof without regard to wealth, creed, color, religion or sexual orientation. The crowd included the most celebrated actors, artists, dancers, musicians, fashion designers like Andy Warhol, Michael Jackson, Mick and Bianca Jagger, Liza Minnelli, Yves Saint Laurent, Ilie Nastase, Calvin Klein, Woody Alen, Warren Beatty, Jack Nicholson, Brooke Shields, Farrah Fawcett, Salvador Dali and many others.
